Our little road warrior headed to Smith Mountain Lake this weekend to see James' cousin get married. Traveling is tough business.
However, he was wide awake when we stopped at the Strawberry Festival on the way to Roanoke. Matthew enjoyed a strawberry, though grandma had already enjoyed most of the chocolate covering. Matthew didn't seem to mind.He however, thought he could do without the hat.
We headed to the lake a day early to spread out the car travel and do some relaxing. Matthew enjoyed playing some peekaboo with grandpa at breakfast.
Then we headed down to the lake, sunscreen mohawk and all. He had a great chat with grandma
and enjoyed riding on grandpa's shoulders.
Once we got down to the beach along the lake, we played a very long game with the sand I like to call "ehh, ehh, icky". We didn't keep score, but I'm fairly certain Matthew won.
"Hmmmm . . . what's this?"
The sweet face of victory!
His first dip in a (very) cold lake.
Where the sand tastes just as good as the rest of the beach.
When we got back to the condo, Matthew tried to steal some of grandpa's refreshment and grandma of course had to take a picture.
I don't know about all this, but I think they better watch it or they may lose their status as favorite babysitters :-) They must have created a menace, as later that evening at the wedding, Matthew stopped in and started swiping at grandma's drink (water, people I promise!). Apparently Matthew takes his with a bit of lime :-)
Overall, the wedding was fabulous and the couple couldn't be any more awesome. We had a great trip and are now looking forward to a week in Northern Virginia.
